What our guides carry, and why

Water, obviously. Also a spare abaya, two phone cables, and a laminated tide table that has saved four tours this year.

Ask a guide what is in the bag and you learn more about the job than any training manual will tell you.

The tide table

The mangrove tour is tide-dependent and the official app has been wrong twice. A printed table does not need signal.

The spare abaya

Qasr Al Watan has a dress code and enforces it. Turning someone away at the gate would end their day; carrying a spare costs nothing.
