Three days in Abu Dhabi, properly

Not the checklist. A route that puts the palace, the island and the coast in the order that actually works.

Most three-day itineraries for Abu Dhabi are a list of five places with no thought about the order. Order is most of it.

Day one: the shape of the city

Start high. Etihad Towers in the afternoon gives you the geography, and everything after makes sense against it.

Day two: Saadiyat

The Louvre opens at ten and is worth two hours. Do the Mamsha after, not before — the walk is better on a full head.

Day three: out of the city

Hudayriyat or the mangroves. Both are twenty minutes away and neither feels like the same emirate.
